Racing suit worn by Don Due for limited hydroplane racing, ca. 1970s
Don Due was a Seattle native, born in 1932. He raced Super Stock and K-Class race boats, or limited hydroplane racing, in the 1970s. In 1971, he won the national championship in super stock at Green Lake driving his boat the Krazy Kanaka.

Black, blue and purple Barclay Girls Can-Can dress, ca. 1958
The Barclay Girls got their start on Pier 91, dancing the can-can for servicemen setting sail and returning from the Korean War. When the war ended, they danced gigs around town, including at Seafair. Most of the dancers were still in high school. Leilani Larsen, who wore this costume, remembers sewing the sequins on during Spanish class.

The University of Washington Husky Helmet Car patrolled the sidelines at home games from 1977 to 2013, when it was officially retired. The helmet was originally designed for the Husky’s 1977 Rose Bowl appearance, but was disqualified from the parade for lack of flowers. The first Seattle Seafair Queen was crowned in 1950. The title was changed to Miss Seafair in 1972 as the role evolved to put more emphasis on academics and personal achievements. Karen Brown, crowned Seafair Queen in 1968, wore this dress for the ceremony. The jacket was sold by Nordstrom Best.
