MOHAI education is excited to host homeschool cooperatives, unschoolers, ALE programs, and similar mixed-age/grade groups.
We do require reservations for all groups.
Depending on your group’s make up, some programs may better fit your learning goals and group needs than others. Please feel free to reach out if you have specific questions.
About Self-Guided Field Trips
MOHAI educators greet groups, offer storage for lunches and coats, provide an orientation to the space, and are available to answer questions throughout the visit. Students must participate in an activity during their visit. Group leaders can opt to bring your own activity or utilize our MOHAI-made scavenger hunts in small, chaperone-led groups.
MOHAI provides an iPad based or paper scavenger hunt, clipboards, and pencils. Paper scavenger hunts are recommended for mixed age groups.
We recommend a two-hour booking window for most groups–plenty of time to complete our scavenger hunt or your own activity with ample to time to explore the galleries. Families are welcome to explore the museum after the formal end of the field trip.
Reservations and Rates
Self-guided field trips are priced at $50 per 10-30 students. This rate includes chaperones up to a 1:2 ratio. Any additional chaperones will be charged regular admission rates.
Payments can be made in advance of or at the time of the field trip. We can accept cash, check, credit card or purchase order. Payments must be made in a lump sum.
Home school groups meeting our minimum group size are eligible to book a field trip and qualify for our field trip pricing. Our minimum group size for a self-guided program is 10 K-12 students accompanied by 2-5 chaperones. Our maximum group size is 90 students accompanied by 15-45 chaperones.
We do not offer any additional discounts or packages for homeschool groups. Homeschool groups smaller than 10 students may be eligible for free or reduced admission through MOHAI’s Community Access program.
