The Seattle Potlatch was an annual event to celebrate Seattle's prosperity after the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition held in 1909. The name "Golden Potlatch" appropriates a Chinook Jargon word describing a Native ceremony celebration and gift giving. It also reflects the importance of the Klondike Gold Rush to Seattle's growth. Ticket books with black leather case from the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition (AYPE) in Seattle, 1909

These tickets allowed entry into the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition (AYPE) held in Seattle in 1909. It was a major national event for the young but fast growing city, and celebrated the emerging development of the Pacific Northwest. The fairgrounds became the campus of the University of Washington.
