In observance of Pride month and the 50th Anniversary of Microsoft, MOHAI’s newest display explores the collection of Ric Weiland—Microsoft’s employee No. 2.
Richard “Ric” Weiland (1953-2006) was a software developer, programmer, philanthropist, and active member of the Northwest gay community. Pride: The Ric Weiland Collection celebrates the life and legacy of a fascinating person while also honoring an important gift to MOHAI’s collection.
The collection includes a wide array of Seattle memorabilia and ephemera, personal clothing and costumes, and a collection of computer hardware. Explore a selection of these items, which connect to MOHAI’s collecting priorities: stories from the recent past, technology and innovation in our region, and LGBTQIA+ history.
