This mailer announces a 1989 New Year's Eve party at Seattle's Union Station organized by the Seattle chapter of the Tacky Tourist Clubs of America, a fundraising organization for gay and lesbian causes. The party was called the Gay Nineties, a play on the nostalgic term for the 1890s. The Gay Nineties party raised money for the Chicken Soup Brigade, which assisted people with illnesses including HIV/AIDs; Sound Impressions, a lesbian and gay mixed chorus; and Team Seattle, Seattle's contingent of athletes heading to Gay Games III in 1990. The mailer was sent out on November 11, 1989, the centennial of Washington becoming a state, and features a drawing of George Washington with a centennial button and elaborate powdered wig.
