Hat from a Century 21 Seattle World's Fair Band uniform, 1962
The 1962 Seattle World's Fair had its own official band led by director John R. "Jackie" Souders. The band played at the Grand Opening ceremony on April 21 with the national anthem, and accompanied many celebrated singers throughout the run of the fair.

The donor of this mandolin came to Seattle in 1889 at the age of two. She attended Denny and Central Schools, and Wilson's Modern Business College at the corner of 5th Avenue and Virginia Street. She may have played this instrument at school programs or other events.

This pair of women's shoes were owned by Milnora Roberts, a strong supporter of local art, music and athletics. In 1903, she and her brother built a home near the University of Washington at the corner of 15th Ave NE and NE 45th St. It was replaced by the Pacific National Bank in 1969.

Julie Andrews wore these shoes in the 1968 movie "Star!" --a musical biography of actress Gertrude Lawrence. They were donated to MOHAI by Seattle fashion retailer John Doyle Bishop. Bishop was friends with New York designer Donald Brooks who created the costumes for the film.
