Ichiro: A Global Baseball Icon

In honor of Ichiro Suzuki’s induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame on July 27, MOHAI presents a special display celebrating the legendary outfielder’s career. Visitors can view rare game-used artifacts from Ichiro’s time with the Orix BlueWave and the Seattle Mariners, including signed gear and uniforms. A full-length cutout of Ichiro invites fans to snap a selfie with one of baseball’s greatest.

Ichiro Suzuki played right field for the Seattle Mariners from 2001 to 2012 and again from 2018 to 2019, following a nine-year career with the Orix BlueWave in Japan. He was the first Japanese-born MLB position player and broke records throughout his career, including most hits in a single MLB season–262 in 2004, a record that still stands.

He was also the first Japanese player to earn both American League MVP and Rookie of the Year honors, and his accolades include 10 Gold Glove Awards and over 3,000 career hits. Ichiro was inducted into the Mariners Hall of Fame in 2022 and will be officially inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame on July 27, 2025. The Mariners will also retire Ichiro’s number on August 9, 2025, at T-Mobile Park.
