It’s been a year and then some. Historical organizations have grappled with how to document and preserve history while living through it. What is collected today shapes the way stories will be told for the future but there are unique challenges facing those who attempt to make sense of the recent past. Join heritage organizations to learn about the lessons learned from this singular moment in history.

Moderated by Jackie Peterson. Panelists include:

Clara Berg is MOHAI’s Curator of Collections. She manages the museums artifact collection, including MOHAI’s extensive holdings of clothing, accessories, and textiles. She received her MA in Costume and Textile studies at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City.

Charlotte Beall (she, her, hers) leads a team that is responsible for all operational, content, program direction, and strategy for The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s Discovery Center. Before joining the foundation in 2011 Charlotte had her own exhibit development and design business.

Stephanie Johnson-Toliver is President at the Black Heritage Society of Washington State where she leads a dedicated Board of Directors who are committed to uphold the Society’s mission to preserve and share the history of Black people from across the region.

Teofila "Teya" Cruz-Uribe

Teofila “Teya” Cruz-Uribe is the Director of the Sea Mar Museum of Chicano/a/Latino/a Culture and the Health Center Administrator of the Sea Mar Adolescent Medical Clinic. Teya has a B.A. in Science, Technology & Society, M.A. in Museology and an M.A.I.S. in Russian, Eastern European & Central Asian Studies.
