This unusual 1970 view, taken in Seattle's Pioneer Square district, captures two landmark structures built after the 1889 Great Fire. The 1889 brick Pioneer Building, designed by Elmer Fisher and built by Henry Yesler, occupies the corner of First Avenue and James Street. The 1909 cast iron and glass Pergola sits across the street on Pioneer Square itself. The square was formerly known as Pioneer Place.
