Order an ImageIn 1943, the Northwest International Hockey League (NIHL) operated in the Pacific Northwest. The NIHL consisted of five teams, mostly backed by local companies. The Boeing Bombers and Isaacson Iron Workers played in Seattle, the Warcos and the Oilers played in Portland, and the Maple Leafs represented Vancouver, BC, but did not have a home arena and only played away games. Most NIHL players worked in wartime industries or served in the military. In 1944, the NIHL merged with a league from California to form the Pacific Coast Hockey League.
