In 1916 the third annual Seattle Automobile Show was held downtown, hosted by the Seattle Auditorium Company, and featured thirty-three passenger models of twenty different makes, and eight motor trucks produced by six different manufacturers. Some of the standouts included a white six-cylinder Paige, a maroon eight-cylinder Oakland, and a Marmon with an aluminum engine. Also on display were the first "horseless carriage" to come to Seattle, a Woods electric owned by Ralph S. Hopkins, and the Stutz No. 8 racing car driven by Earl Coopers in 1914 when he won the title of world champion road racing driver of the world.

The advertisement pictured here for the automobile show indicates the event was held at the Arena, a multi-purpose auditorium built in 1915 which housed an ice skating rink during the winter months. In 1924 the building was remodeled into a parking garage for the new Olympic Hotel, located on the opposite side of University Street. After 1963 the site was occupied by the IBM building.
