David Perry is a musician, producer, and studio engineer who moved to Seattle in 1978, where he produced hits for disco artists like Salazar. Inspired by early rap coming out of New York and with access to studio time, Perry decided to record his own rap album in 1980 under the name "Little Ray Rapper." Working with Moyes Lucas on drums and Steve Allen on bass, Perry rapped and played guitar on two songs that he recorded and submitted to Gerald "Jerry" Dennon at First American Records in Seattle.

This album shown here was released in 1981 on 7-inch and 12-inch vinyl, with "I'm Little Ray Rapper," a song that he rapped slowly and then sped up on playback for a chipmunk-like effect as the A-side, and "Get That Future Punk" as the B-side. While Perry planned on recording a full album as Little Ray Rapper in 1982, First American Records abruptly closed and Perry moved on to other music projects.
