The Chong Wa Benevolent Association was founded in the late 1890s by Seattle’s Chinese community to promote social and cultural welfare and support Chinese causes in the greater community.

This brochure gives a history of the Association and describes its wide variety of programs and activities. These have included financial and legal assistance, language and citizenship classes, performing arts, and social activities. Chong Wa is particularly known for its Chinatown Dragon Team and the Seattle Chinese Community Girls’ Drill Team as well as its political advocacy in Seattle’s Chinatown - International District. Images in the brochure include the Chong Wa building and some of its programs.
