Keep the Storm in Seattle poster, 2006

Order an Image
The Seattle Storm is a professional basketball team in the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA). Seattle lost its first women’s basketball team, the Seattle Reign, when the American Basketball League (ABL) folded in 1998, then in 1999 was awarded a WNBA franchise to begin in the 2000 season. As of 2024, the Seattle Storm has qualified for the WNBA Playoffs in 18 of 24 seasons, and won the WNBA Championships four times, in 2004, 2010, 2018, and 2020.

This poster was produced by Save Our Storm and Save Our Sonics, community groups meant to keep the Storm and the Seattle SuperSonics men's basketball team in Seattle. At the time, both teams had recently been purchased by a group from Oklahoma City who planned to move them. However, in 2008, four local businesswomen bought the Storm and kept the team in Seattle.
