New Method Laundry employees, circa 1912
Order an ImageThe New Method Laundry Company began operations in 1906 in a small building at 815 Pike Street. In 1913, the company built a new, larger building with updated machinery at 1101 E. Spring Street, where it did business until closing in 1936.
This photograph shows a group of New Method Laundry employees posing in front of the company wagon around 1911. The man at right is August J. Kirchner (1885-1973), who was employed driving the horse-drawn wagon. The woman to Kirchner's right is Ada Warren. August Kirchner and Ada Warren were married in 1914.
