The Seattle SuperSonics (commonly known as the Sonics) were a National Basketball Association (NBA) team based in Seattle. The Sonics competed in the league's Western Conference Pacific and Northwest divisions from 1967 until 2008. In 2008, the team relocated to Oklahoma City, where they play as the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Seattle SuperSonics won the NBA championship in 1979, the team's first, and only, NBA title. The JCPenney department store sponsored a commemorative record, shown here, titled "Sonic Boom: Official Seattle Supersonics Commemorative Record, 1978-79 NBA World Champions." The recording features "play-by-play highlights from the regular season, play-offs and World Championship finals, including interviews, Sonic songs, and the 'Big Event'—the post-season celebration."
