The Chilly Hilly bike ride is an event put on by the Cascade Bicycle Club annually in February. The riders gather at Colman Dock and take a ferry to Bainbridge Island, where they ride around most of the island in a 33 mile course featuring more than 2,000 feet of elevation gain. The Cascade Bicycle Club was founded in 1970, and the Chilly Hilly event was one of its early successes.

This image shows riders gathered at Colman Dock for the 1991 Chilly Hilly ride. More than 4,500 cyclists took part in the ride that year. Note the Alaskan Way Viaduct visible in the background (demolished in 2019).
