The Kingdome broke ground on November 2, 1972 after a years-long struggle to acquire public funding and extensive debates over its site. The stadium opened on March 27, 1976 and during its life it hosted the Mariners, the Seahawks, the Sonics, and the Sounders, as well as many college sports events and nonsporting events. The Kingdome was demolished on March 26, 2000.

This card commemorates the Seattle Mariners’ final game in the Kingdome, played on June 27, 1999 against the Texas Rangers, which the Rangers wone 5-2. About two weeks later, on July 15, the Mariners played their first game at their new stadium, Safeco Field (renamed T-Mobile Park in 2019). The card’s back side lists several significant moments from Mariners history that occurred during games played in the Kingdome.
