Seattle Gay Culture Center and Senior Housing Project mailer, 2000
Order an ImageThe Seattle Gay Culture Center and Senior Housing Project was an initiative of the Queen City Development Corporation (QCDC), founded in 1996 by local activist David Schraer. The QCDC was the result of discussions between Washington State LGBT leaders and experts in community and economic development about building institutional capacity and addressing gaps in services available to Washington's LGBT community. Later called Queen City Community Development (QCCD), the non-profit’s goals included assisting not-for-profit LGBT organizations with real estate decisions, developing LGBT-friendly congregate care facilities for the elderly, and documenting community economic and demographic statistics to combat stereotypes and help develop effective programs for the LGBT community.
This mailer was part of the capital campaign for the Seattle Gay Culture Center & Senior Housing Project of the QCCD. The organization had a long term goal of raising $20 million over 10 years.
