A hardcore punk band formed in 1980 in San Diego, Battalion of Saints went on a 55-city US tour during the summer of 1985. In Seattle they performed at the Rock Theater at 410 Fifth Avenue, fronted by two Washington bands, The Melvins and Skin Yard. Skin Yard was formed in Seattle in January 1985 by Daniel House and Jack Endino, who were subsequently joined by Ben McMillan and Matt Cameron. The Melvins, from Montesano, Washington, were formed in 1983 by Buzz Osborne (guitar, vocals), Matt Lukin (bass), and Mike Dillard (drums). As of 2018, the Melvins continue to perform, record, and tour.
