Deep Six Record Release Party poster, March 1986
Order an ImageIn 1985, Tina Casale and Chris Hanzsek started a new record label in Seattle, C/Z Records, and made their first record, a compilation of 6 local bands. Released in March 1986, the "Deep Six" compilation received scant attention at the time, but was later recognized as a important recording of the early Seattle music scene, documenting the bands and "punk-meets-metal" sound associated with Seattle that became known as "grunge."
This poster advertises a two night release party for "Deep Six" in March 1986, held at UCT Hall. Three of the six bands on the recording played each night, with Green River, Soundgarden and the Melvins playing on March 21, and U-Men, Skin Yard and Malfunkshun on March 22.
