One of Seattle's most popular local children's television programs of the 1970s and 1980s was "Boomerang," which aired original episodes from 1975-1980, and reruns for several additional years. The host of the program was Marni Nixon (1930-2016), a classically trained singer and Broadway star who was known for dubbing singing voices for a number of more famous but less vocally-talented Hollywood actresses. Ms. Nixon's "Boomerang" co-stars were four Muppet-like puppets named Melinda, Libby, Rookie, and Norbert. They were operated and voiced by Kathy Schnuckel and Lee Olson, who also designed and built the four principal puppets.
The poster pictured here advertises the Boomerang Saturdays events held at the Seattle Center, as well as the show "Boomerang," which aired Sundays through Fridays at 9 a.m. Local TV station KOMO produced around 200 of the 30-minutes episodes and won over 2 dozen Emmys and other awards for the program.
