Sydnia C. Renner (circa 1874-1924) owned S. C. Renner North West Radiator and Fender Works, repairing and manufacturing automobile parts, which operated between 1914 and 1920. Mr. Renner was president of the Mutual Businessmen's Club in 1919 and "one of the youngest successful businessmen on the [automobile] row," according to a Seattle Daily Times article in 1917, having worked on Oldsmobile and Reo manufacturing in Lansing, Michigan, before moving to Seattle. In January of 1918, the company expanded into a new manufacturing facility across the street at 1406-8 Broadway, a "three-story concrete structure on Broadway near its intersection with Union Street." The company was no longer listed in the 1921 city directory, and S. C. Renner passed away in 1924.
This printed metal business card is for the location at 1405-7 Broadway, and features an illustration on the back of a man that looks happy for "This Man Patronizes Us" and flipped upside down looks sad for "This Man Wishes He Had."
