Musician Rob Morgan founded his "bubblegum punk" group The Squirrels in 1984 and quickly became part of the Seattle alternative rock and arts scene. For several years Mr. Morgan also published a popular zine, "Poplust," which was completely hand-lettered and hand-drawn. The quarterly publication offered comics, reviews, and articles on pop culture by a variety of local writers, artists, and cartoonists.

The issue of "Poplust" pictured here was published in the Fall/Winter of 1997, and included "Rock and Roll Math Equations" such as "Bee Gees x the Chipmunks / the Osmonds = Hanson," and "Sly Stone + Jimi Hendrix / Todd Rundgren = Prince."
