Columbia Lutheran Home was founded in 1920 to provide care for the sick and elderly. Swedish immigrants formed many organizations such as churches, lodges, clubs, and health care facilities that helped to bind their community together. Columbia Lutheran Home is still located in the Phinney Ridge neighborhood as of 2025.

This photo is part of an album titled "The Swedes' Life and Work in the State of Washington" which was acquired by the Swedish Club of Seattle.

Some of the photos in the album are signed Nordlands Foto Company, K.E. Nordland owner, 1707 Market Street, Ballard.
