The Bon Marche March and Two Step, 1904
Contact MOHAI to OrderBetween 1900 and 1925 Seattle was a thriving music publishing center with at least half a dozen houses printing songs. As many as 10,000 copies of each would be sold, some of them peddled from door to door. Most songs were written by amateur or professional singers, although many songs were written as "singing commercials" to promote a product or a company and distributed directly to customers in the form of sheet music.
The music and lyrics for "The Bon Marche March and Two Step" were written by John J. Berger, a flautist with Seattle's Philharmonic Orchestra. The song was dedicated to Nordhoff & Co. and published by The Metropolitan Eng. Lith. and Ptg. Co. of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
