Seattle Brewing & Malting Company launched Rainier Beer in 1893, and its popularity led to the brewery's ascendance to become the largest west of the Mississippi River. Rainier Beer would continue to be produced until 1916, when the brewery closed due to prohibition. In 1933 production began again with the name of the business changed to Rainier Brewing Company.

Featuring a blacksmith with an anvil enjoying a frothy glass of ale, this advertisement promises that Rainier Beer "gives vigor and strength."
