David Thomas Denny II and Nellie Graham Denny, Seattle, circa 1938

Order an Image
Nellie Elizabeth Graham (1871-1956) and her husband, David Thomas Denny II (1867-1939), were both born in Seattle to early settlers, Elizabeth "Lizzie" (Crammond) Graham and Walter Graham, and David Thomas Denny and Louisa B (Boren) Denny, respectively. Nellie and David II were married on December 9, 1891, and together had three children, Inez Louisa (Denny) Whiteaker (1893-1963), Walter Claude Denny (1896-1932), and David Thomas "Tommy" Denny III (1898-1986).

In this image, Nellie and David pose together outside. Both appear to be around 70 years old, and this photo may have been taken to commemorate a birthday or special occasion as Nellie is holding two flower bouquets. The photographer was Lawrence Denny “Lawrie” Lindsley (1878-1975), a first cousin of Nellie's on her father's side.

Lindsley 2825 written on front of photo.
