Four women, possibly staff from the Basin Street Club, circa 1943
Order an ImageIn addition to his Seattle jazz club images, photographer Al Smith took many photos of family, friends, and members of the community in their everyday lives. Here, Smith photographs a group of four women who appear to be staff at an eating and drinking establishment, possibly the Basin Street nightclub. Three of the women wear white jackets to protect their clothing. At right are urns for hot beverages, several teapots, and counter seating.
