Club Rizal owner Charlie Beale and his wife, February 1944

Order an Image
Club Rizal was a Filipino social club and dance establishment in Seattle. It operated in the mid-1930s on King St., until moving to Stockton, California in 1937. In 1943, it reopened in Seattle at the corner of 6th Ave. S. and S. King Street. New owner Charlie Beale featured popular local acts such as Al Pierre's jazz band and singer Dee Dee Hackett.

This photo is among hundreds taken at Club Rizal by photographer Al Smith. His notes identify the two people shown here as "Owner Charles and wife," presumably Club Rizal owner Charlie Beale.
