Seafair’s International Court, Seattle, August 1952

Seattle’s 1952 Seafair, which celebrated the Centennial of the city’s founding, included an International Festival, sponsored by the International Improvement Association. Four queens, representing parts of the community, were named to the International Court.

In this image, the four queens stand with their unidentified escorts. From left to right, Adelia Avery, Mardi Gras Queen; Sumi Mitsui, Japanese Queen; Foon Woo, Chinese Queen; and Rosa de Leon, Filipino Queen.
