Order an Image
In addition to his Seattle jazz club images, photographer Al Smith took photos of events in the city’s black community. On this occasion, he photographed a parade group in the annual Mardi Gras, the African American summer festival that took place as part of Seattle’s International Festival, later Seafair. Here, the school groups the Bon Temps and the Le Premiers march along the center of a Central District street.
