This photo shows a choir singing at Plymouth Congregational Church during the 24th Biennial Convention of the National Association of Colored Women Clubs (NACWC), held in Seattle July 31 - August 7, 1948. Delegates to the convention represented 4,780 clubs from 43 states, gathered under the motto of "Lifting as We Climb" to promote self-help among women. The opening meeting was held at the People's Institutional Baptist Church, additional meetings and events were held at Plymouth Congregational Church, Garfield High School, and the Central YMCA.
