Dornatt J. “Frisco” McGale (d. 1958), was a professional fighter, and a boxing trainer and manager. Born in Jamaica, McGale lived in Seattle since the 1920s and fought professionally during the 1920s and 1930s. After he retired from boxing, he devoted his time to training young boxers. He managed professional light-heavyweight Eddie Cotton for many years. During WWII, McGale was an athletic coach at Fort Lawton, and he served on the Golden Gloves committee for 23 years. McGale also worked in Seattle as a longshoreman.

This photo shows Frisco McGale, center, with young boxers Buford Ransom, left, and Eddie Cotton. Bufort Ransom, a welterweight, boxed locally in Seattle and vicinity from 1945-1958. Eddie Cotton, a light heavyweight, boxed for 20 years (1947-1967), and received the Seattle Post-Intelligencer Man of the Year in Sports award in 1966. After his retirement from boxing, Eddie Cotton worked for the Boeing Aircraft Company as a tool and die maker, and ran a restaurant on 15th Avenue and E. Madison Street in Seattle until the mid-1980s.
