The Victory Canteen of the Seattle Civilian War Commission fed and assisted service men and women passing through Seattle during World War II. Thousands of volunteers, largely women, served meals at railroad stations, U.S.O. canteens, Service clubs, and special parties. The Victory Canteen also sponsored recreational events and collected goods to be mailed as holiday gifts to armed forces overseas.

This image shows a group of people, mostly Black soldiers, at an event sponsored by the Victory Canteen. The table in front of the group is filled with used dishes and the banner on the wall urges civilians to support the canteen to "contribute for your cup of Victory!" The US military was racially segregated throughout World War II and most home front services were also segregated.
