Sidney Catlett (1910-1951) played regularly with Armstrong between 1938 and 1942, and also performed with Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, and Dizzy Gillespie, and led his own bands, before becoming involved with Armstrong's All-Stars between 1947 and 1949.
