Katherine Dunham was a dancer and choreographer, and her dance company toured widely. On February 1, 1948, they performed in Seattle, and several members of the dance group posed for photographer Al Smith.

Here, a double exposed sheet of film shows images of two people, a man and a woman, superimposed on one another. A photographer's note indicates the photo was taken of Katherine Dunham's dancers on February 1, 1948.
