Order an ImageHenry Wallace shares the head table with union officers at a dinner meeting of the Marine Cooks and Stewards Union of the Pacific at Washington Hall. Several signs are visible, including "[No Contract] No Work", "...Defeat Taft-Hartley Law", "Wallace in '48...", "Palestine Peace or Profit", "Register Now Win With Wallace". Henry Wallace was Vice President of the United States under Franklin D. Roosevelt from 1941-1945. This picture was probably taken in 1948, when he attemped a third party run for President. Wallace campaigned for universal health insurance, the end of racial segregation, and against America's possible involvement in the Cold War.
