Sailing yacht Fantome in Portage Bay, Seattle, circa 1954
Order an ImageThe luxury sailing yacht Fantome, originally built for the Italian navy, belonged for many years to the heir to the Guinness Brewery. The vessel was stranded in Seattle in 1939 due to World War II, and, after the war, was blocked from leaving for nearly 14 years during a tax dispute with King County.
