Order an Image
Mama's Mexican Kitchen, a popular restaurant at the corner of 2nd Avenue and Bell Street, was well known for its eclectic decorations, longtime staff, and comfort food. The owner, Mike McAlpin, had inherited recipes from his grandmother, the eponymous "Mama." Open from 1974 to 2016, the restaurant was a popular neighborhood fixture. Among its most notable features were its "Elvis Room," filled with Elvis Presley memorabilia, and its life-size figure of Presley near the front door (pictured here).
