Founded in 1917, the Washington Cooperative Egg & Poultry Association was formed in order to help small chicken and egg farmers move their products into the rapidly growing cities. The Washington Cooperative Egg & Poultry Association was first located at the corner of Roeder Avenue and Central Street in Bellingham. Later the cooperative would add a Seattle location at 217 Elliott Ave. W.; this building is pictured on the back cover of the cookbook.

Lynden Canned Chicken was a featured product of the co-operative. "Today's efficient hostess recognizes the advantages of serving chicken already cooked for her," boasts this small recipe booklet. Contained within are menu ideas for utilizing the Lynden canned chicken products, including recipes such as "Chicken-Lima Loaf" and "Moulded Chicken Vegetable Salad."
