Mrs. Porter's Salad Dressing, founded by Margaret Porter of Seattle, began "in a very small way with one-half dozen bottles in the fall of 1906." Soon Mrs. Porter's business expanded from salad dressing and mayonnaise to a variety of puddings. Mrs. Porter was recognized at the Panama-Pacific Exposition in 1915 with gold medals for the "purity, excellence and flavor of all her products." By 1924, Mrs. Porter had sold the business and re-established under the name Blue Bonnet Salad Dressing.

This booklet describes Mrs. Porter's Salad Dressing as "strictly home-made and contains only the purest of ingredients." Mrs. Porter maintains her salad dressing may be used for sweet salads, savory salads and even as a meat sauce. Inside the book are dozens of ideas for using Mrs. Porter's products including such offerings as "Asparagus and Pimento" and "Lobster and Pineapple."
