Frye and Company was a prominent Seattle meat business established by Charles Frye in the 1890s. This fold-out leaflet opens to a chart of cuts for "Frye's Baby Beef," describing cooking uses for each type of cut. According to the West Seattle Herald, Frye's Baby Beef was cut from milk and grain fed steer aged between 15 and 20 months. Frye and Company claimed that the introduction of its Baby Beef to Seattle "entirely changed people's eating habits because many people prefer a medium size piece of tender beef to a large piece of ordinary beef." On the reverse side of the leaflet, homemakers are advised to look for the words "Frye's Baby Beef" branded directly onto the cut of meat because: "None genuine without this stamp."
