Fisher Flouring Mills opened in 1911, founded by father and son O.W. (Oliver Williams) Fisher and O.D. (Oliver David) Fisher. The Fisher family mill was one of the first businesses to operate on Harbor Island. The Fishers founded radio station KOMO in 1926, in part to advertise their flour. One of the company's most famous products was Fisher Scones, introduced at the Panama Pacific Exposition in San Francisco in 1915, and still sold at fairs throughout the Pacific Northwest.

With a brightly illustrated cover, this children's activity book includes a story featuring the image of Newton Colman, a local African American man who served as the personification of Fisher's Blend flour in Fisher's advertising from 1912 to 1920. The book contains stories, games such as "Tissue Paper Race," and patterns for items children could fashion with Fisher flour sacks. Recipes such as "Sugar Cookies" or "Brownies" are are suitable to children baking, "during those long vacation days, or on Saturdays when you hear the inevitable cry: 'Mother, what can I do now?'"
