When the Beatles performed at the Seattle Center Coliseum in August 1964, nineteen-year-old freelance photographer Timothy Eagan had an enviable view of the "Fab Four" from the edge of the stage. Eagan, who grew up in the Queen Anne neighborhood of Seattle, went on to work for the Seattle Post-Intelligencer before pursuing a professional photography career in New York City. Eagan's Beatles photographs were rediscovered after his death in 1993. This photograph was taken by Eagan near the end of the Beatles' 29-minute set, and shows John Lennon with his Rickenbacker 325 guitar. The guitar had been given to John by Rickenbacker president F.C. Hall in time for the Beatles' second appearance on the Ed Sullivan on February 16, 1964, broadcast from Miami. This guitar replaced a well-worn 1958 Rickenbacker Lennon had bought during the Beatles first trip to Hamburg in 1960.
