When the Beatles came to Seattle on the third stop of their first official world tour, teenager Timothy Eagan made good use of the press pass given to him by a family friend. Eagan shot three rolls of film from his position at the edge of the stage, including a number of individual portraits of each musician, such as this shot of drummer Ringo Starr. Eagan continued to practice his art throughout his life, working as a professional photographer in Seattle and New York City. In this photo, taken late in the band's set, a smiling Ringo Starr plays his drums from a platform raised high above stage level. Ringo may be performing his one vocal solo of the concert, a cover of the song "Boys," originally written for the Shirelles. Fans were always eager to hear Ringo sing, and when he sang "Boys" on the stage in Seattle, the already ear-splitting noise in the Coliseum went up a notch. According to a report in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer the following morning, when Ringo bent to the microphone,"the shattering sirens of 14,000 soprano voices wrenched the atoms out of the atmosphere."
