When the Beatles performed in Seattle on the third stop of their first official world tour, nineteen-year-old Timothy Eagan pushed his way to the edge of the stage to get photos of the band, such as this classic shot of Paul McCartney and John Lennon singing together at one microphone. Eagan, who grew up in the Queen Anne neighborhood of Seattle, had gotten a press pass from a family friend and shot three rolls of film at the concert. Eagan went on to a professional career in photography in Seattle and New York City. In this photo, McCartney and Lennon are very likely performing their vocal harmonies for the song "If I Fell" during the second half of the Beatles' 29-minute set. John and Paul tended to share a microphone when performing close harmonies such as these. The pair is widely recognized as the creative powerhouse behind the Beatles. Their creative partnership, known as Lennon-McCartney, became one of the most successful and productive songwriting collaborations of the 20th century, producing the vast majority of the songs of the Beatles catalogue. Paul describes a typical moment in their collaboration: "I was sitting there doing ΓÇÿGetting better all the time,'ΓÇëΓÇ¥ Paul remembered, "and John just said, in his laconic way, ΓÇÿIt couldn't get no worse.' And I thought, Oh, brilliant! This is exactly why I love writing with John.ΓÇ¥"
