Nineteen-year-old Timothy Eagan shot this photograph of Paul McCartney and George Harrison early in the band's 29-minute set. They may be singing background vocals on the first song of the set, a cover of Phil Medley and Bert Berns' "Twist and Shout," on which John Lennon sang lead vocals. A young police officer in the right foreground plugs his ears with his fingers, more likely due to the volume of the audience than the band onstage. The officers visible in this photo were among the fifty policemen and women, one hundred Navy volunteers, and other security personnel guarding the Beatles before, during and after the concert. Timothy Eagan, a Seattle native from Queen Anne, went on to a successful professional career in photography.
