Order an ImageFrank Vivian James (1867-1921), a California native, worked in the San Francisco Bay area as a marine engineer. He met his future wife, Rebecca Gaines (1869-1953), in Seattle, where she had attended the Territorial University of Washington (now University of Washington), graduating in 1888. After their 1891 marriage Frank and Rebecca settled in Alameda, California, where together they had three children.
