The poster pictured here advertises concerts featuring The Robert Cray Band (1974-present), fronted by blues guitarist and singer, Robert William Cray (b. 1953), who attended high school in Lakewood, Washington. Mr. Cray first formed his band in Eugene, Oregon, in 1974, and as of 2018, continues to record and tour widely.
The shows were held from Thursday, June 3 - Saturday, June 5, probably in 1982, at legendary Seattle nightclub, the Fabulous Rainbow Tavern, at 722 N.E. 45th Street in the University District. The Rainbow first opened at the same location as a beer parlor in 1936 by Frank Salvino (1902-1960). Throughout the 1960s-1980s the club was a hub for the local music scene, and hosted shows by Annie Rose and The Thrillers, The Young Fresh Fellows, Jr. Cadillac, Green River, and Soundgarden.
